Stay & School Dog Training

Many dog trainers and training programs offer services on an hourly basis. This training usually occurs in groups, at facilities with other dogs, or on a short-term individual level. Traditional approaches often yield sufficient short-term results. However, many owners find their dogs reverting back to old behaviors once the training session(s) has ended.

 

The key to successful training is consistency coupled with immersion. Our unique "stay & school" program is different. During your dogs boarding, we immerse them in our consistent training regiment throughout their entire stay with us. This daily program yields the utmost consistency and produces more consistent results

Will developed our "stay & school" program drawing on experiences from his youth. Will spent over 10 years training dogs with his family for Assistant Dogs of America. This organization focused on placing service dogs with special needs individuals (mobility restrictions, emotional support needs, disabilities, etc). Adequately training a therapy dog required a different approach to many traditional methods.

 

Prospective therapy dogs were brought in to live in the family home for 3-12 months. During this time, a consistent training regiment was implemented by all family members. Different dog breeds were trained which often required different approaches. Some breeds had physical, mental and breed characteristics better suited for emotional therapy,. Others were better equipped for assisting those with disabilities. Regardless, the key to success was immersing the dog in a consistent daily training environment, inside a normal household. This household environment would resemble what the therapy dog would experience in their forever home.  Therapy dogs were also well socialized outside the home to ensure behaviors were consistent in different environments. Ultimately, numerous dogs were placed with special need individuals, including top level guide dogs.

Each dog is different and we certainly can't guarantee that you dog will be transformed into a fully equipped therapy dog. What we can guarantee is that our immersive "stay & school" program is built on the same techniques/principals that were used to successfully train/place multiple therapy dogs. At the very least, your dog will come home with improved behavior, and above all else, Happy!

This program costs an additional $50/day/dog. In order to ensure maximum success, this program must be applied to each day of boarding and will be charged accordingly. We can also customize aspects of this program to suit specific needs or behaviors.
